The Wild & Wonderful Glacier National Park

8/11/2017

Glacier national park is yet another fantastic animal and nature refuge we are so blessed to have stayed in and explored during this wanderlust adventure of ours. It's full of incredible hikes to sooth my restless soul and fulfill my need to be one with nature. Honestly, I cannot say it enough, but being outdoors, truly outdoors, puts my mind at ease, brings me into the present moment and creates joy to my state of being. I can see it in so many of us as well. I mean we never encounter grumpy hikers or campers and my kids are always happier playing outside and letting their imagination and adventurous sides take over. Glacier park had  fantastic mountains to surround us, beautiful lakes to swim in after long hikes and we just did exactly that our entire time there. Hike, explore, swim, play and enjoy the wildlife within the park repeat!

Highlights from our time in Glacier
  • The road to the sun is an incredible windy drive along the mountain side (a bit scary when on the cliff edge going up!) and at the peak is another incredible hike through snow patches still melting (of course snow ball fights were had) and many wild mountain goats, bears, ground squirrels and deer galore. We also met a young couple starting their vagabond trip only one week in!! So jealous.
  • Hanging out with our fellow traveling family buds, the Stuckey's is always a special treat. The kids get on like they've known each other their entire lives, the Stuckey's themselves are real comedians and Alex and I totally enjoy our adult time with them. We also bounce off ideas for travel tips, internet connection complaints, future must do's etc. We are planning a fall meet up close to Niagara Falls and we are so looking forward to it!
**Check out the cool drone video of our time on the Flathead River in Glacier**
  • Avalanche Lake hike 2.5 mile up a mountain and on top is a few glacial waterfalls from the mountain peaks that create a mushy bottomed, but stunning lake to soak our feet in and picnic before our decent.
  • Lake McDonald where we literally spent the entire day on the beach with the kids swimming, sun bathing, throwing rocks, catching minnows (p.s. I am the minnow catching champion over 15 caught with my hands!! Nature skills what what!) lol.
  • Last but not least, go-karting and bumper boats in Hungry Horse, Montana to add a little extra fun to our stay in the Glacier area.

We are a fun family of 5 who have decided to proactively live our dreams by traveling for long periods of time and educating ourselves at every stop along the way. We felt it was about time for us to stop wishing what our lives could be like and just get out in the world and create lasting memories with our young family while traveling and learning along the way. Follow us on our adventure!
